Double cutting trims away artwork that repeats at a pouch edge. We include this extra finishing step on every pouch we supply.
With single cutting, artwork from the other side of the print impression can repeat at the cut edge. For example, green from the left-hand side can appear on a right-hand edge intended to be cream.
Double cutting trims off this repeat so the edge finishes in the intended colour.
Some print layouts also have eye marks—printed blocks or lines that help machinery position the material. Double cutting can remove these where they fall within the trimmed area.
On a plain single-colour pouch with no marks to remove, there may be little visual difference. With contrasting colours or patterns, it’s easier to see.
The extra cutting process can slow production and add to the cost. So two quotes can match on size, material and quantity while including different finishes.
Our custom pouch quotes include double cutting. When comparing prices, check whether the other quote includes it too—and ask to see a finished sample with similar artwork.
